[ filed under: asia literature ] For those interested, I’ll be competing for beer at the Rickshaw Stop at Fell and Van Ness, 7 PM – March 12 I’ll be reading from short stories but will have Perfume Dreams for those who want to buy. Please come, and spread the word. I promise to be funny and entertaining. Andrew Here’s note from the host: For the first time, we’re inviting local publishing houses to send local writers to read—Writers will have a chance to sell their books and dazzle the crowd—We’d love to have a Heyday writer along for the battle. Here’s a little about LDM: Opium’s Literary Death Match challenges the notion that a reading series has to be a mind-numbing affair hosted in a drafty room with no booze breaks. The Death Match is a competitive, humor-centric reading series that features four literary publications (both online and in print) in an edge-of-your-seat read-off. Readers do their thing for ten minutes or less, and three guest-star judges affectionately discuss their favorites based on three categories: literary merit, performance and intangibles. The two finalists then compete in a Death Match challenge to decide the ultimate winner. (www.literarydeathmatch.com) Good writing and beer—it’s pretty much the best time ever : > |
