Prelude to Hillary's speech

DENVER, Co.—If Sen. Hillary Clinton’s supporters had a choice, they wouldn’t want her to be in this convention. Many of them are even planning to leave Denver, right after she delivered her message tonight at the Pepsi Convention Center.

That is the hottest topic that members of the media and delegates have been covertly buzzing around on the second day of the Democratic National Convention.

According to the source, a veteran journalist who spoke on anonymity to avoid denting his relationship with Clinton’s supporters, many from Hillary’s camp still believes at this point that she is the better Democratic presidential nominee.

“It’s like Obama’s supporters are bending over and Hillary’s supporters are kicking them in the butt,” the source said. “It’s clear that they are dissing him.”

While Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) continues to extend her support to Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), hoping to strengthen the Democratic Party as a whole and galvanize his campaign against Republican rival John McCain, it is palpable that the Obama-Clinton alliance is a volatile blend.

The reality is that for any strong competitor, it is tremendously difficult to accept a big loss, most particularly when a dream is broken and long-time hard work failed.

In other words, the New York senator could show a great sportsmanship, but it is certainly not easy to forget about it – not in this convention. On the one hand, for the winning camp, the reality hovers that Sen. Clinton is not out of the picture.

As Hillary speaks, those who will be all ears are actually Obama’s camp – not her own supporters. And, clearly, her biggest challenge at the Democratic National Convention is to hold up under pressure and scrutiny.

In the media room, reporters have one thing to say: “In an hour or so, we’ll find out what’s going to happen afterwards.”
