[ filed under: asia entertainment ] MYX TV is the first music lifestyle television channel focused on the Asian community. On Thursday, April 12th, youth waited in anticipation to enter the “Glas Kat Supper Club” in San Francisco for the launching of MYX TV. Entertainment included independent musical artists and mainstream artists such as Apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas. “Second and third generation Asians felt there was nothing on television that speaks to them. MYX TV paves the way for Asian American youth,” said Raffy Lopez, Chief Operating Officer, ABS-CBN. MYX TV allows young Asian Americans to express themselves through music, importing music from Asia, with sounds of hip-hop, mainstream, independent artists and up and coming artists. Produced and inspired by Asians, this new innovative television channel represents multiple cultures, languages and genres. Youth who filled the Glas Kat were excited to take part in this launching that represents their culture and voice. “This is a turn of a new page for Asians,” said Dorothy Reyes, who joined in on the celebration. “MYX is a melting pot of music and information,” said Tiffany Tsui. MYX TV is a nationally-distributed premium television channel, that targets the 15 to 34-year-old demographic. It’s televised 24 hours a day, seven days a week. MYX is developed by ABS-CBN Global, a media company with a 15-year track record in successful ethnic programming in the United States. You can check out MYX TV on the web at www.myx.tv.
