 Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam training youths by TChild The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), also known as the Tamil Tigers, is a politico-military organisation that has been at times waging a secessionist campaign against the Sri Lankan government since the 1970s in order to secure a separate state for the Tamil majority regions in the north and east of Sri Lanka. Supporters of the LTTE refer to them as freedom fighters; however, 29 countries have listed them as a terrorist organisation. The Sri Lankan government itself lifted its ban on the LTTE before signing a ceasefire agreement in 2002. The LTTE is headed by its ‘reclusive’ founder, Velupillai Prabhakaran. hi there im Deepinder Singh from Australia.I belong to punjab In north of india on border of pakistan. i belong to sikh religion n we also fighting to get our own country that will be called KHALISTAN. we had many movements from 1980s till now but in 1984 indian government attacked punjab and after that still they are doing all things to make us hindus and to occupie punjab. but i really respect u people or whoever who fight for their freedom.

Over the past decade, the civil war in Sri Lanka has escalated to the point of NO hope. Sri Lanka which was once deemed to be the PEARL OF ASIA is now in it’s last strings with no value to people’s lives.
LTTE movement to obtain a separate Tamil region might sound like a plausible solution… but for those who are educated in politics, psychology, and economics know that any guerrilla movement does not succeed in running a country due to the “power struggle” within the same group. I am not at all inferring that the Sri Lankan government is any better, but the differences between the two has been drawn out politically which has affected the INNOCENT people who are willing to get along, past differences, and make a living for their family and themselves.
India, a country of vast differences between states has grown to be a country with strong economy. What India has done is put its differences aside (politically) and gathered the strength of all its states to help the country grow. Sri Lanka needs to do that.
Seperating Sri Lanka is not going to happen and should not happen… it will only lead to the demise of that country. People should demand peace and the two parties who are at each other’s throat are just sick and tired of all the massacre and killing.
We as people who live abroad should not support any of the fighting… because in essence, we are supporting the cause for killing and massacre. Education is the key to obtaining peace and a stable country (just like how Sri Lanka was way back in the days).
Sad to say, Sri Lanka has dug a hole too deep, which has destroyed the people, economy, and country as a whole.
We never learn from the past… never! Sad, we consider ourselves to have the ability to reason…. !?!?!?

Furthermore all pacts signed between unarmed Tamils and the govt were broken by the Sinhalese. Tamils can’t trust the Sinhala govt anymore after it broke the ceasefire. The Tamil Tigers HAVE NOT gone on the offensive to capture new territory yet. However even when the ceasefire was in place over the last 6 years the government has captured the entire east from the Tigers and nobody from the international community said anything. IT WAS A MAJOR CEASEFIRE VIOLATION. How can the Tamils justify asking the Tigers to put down the weapons now? They are the only ones protecting the Tamils through thick and thin.If they put down their weapons the international community will sit by and watch like Rwanda while the Sinhalese speed up their ethnic genocide of Tamils and colonisation of Tamil lands.

If you have not done the research about the Sri Lankan history then you should not be the one to talk. The Sri Lankan government put the Tamil minority through many stages of torture and all the Tamils wanted was freedom. Here in Canada where i live, we take advantage of freedom yet there are thousands of people sacrificing thier life for freedom. Sri lanka goes around saying how the LTTE are terrorists and now some countries decide to group them as terrorists. The tamils did not do anything wrong except ask for freedom and this is what they get?????

This war is no more a war for freedom, its now a political war, war that has become a selfish greedy bloody war. hundreds of people are dieing with no food and no proper medicines. if you cant provide for that, and you loose all the people who are you going to rule? i don’t the tamil’s living abroad does not belong any more to that land. coz they have denounced it. Both the government and the freedom fights who ever are now or might come are all killing the tamils one way or the other. This war will never end…..
