Dawn Harris-Young, spokesperson for the Environmental Protection Agency, stands inside the entrance of the old cotton mill in Social Circle, Ga., where the EPA Emergency Response and Removal Branch is currently in the process of stabilizing and categorizing a host of possibly-hazardous materials. Substances identified so far include adhesives, resins, solvents, paint thinners and mercury amalgam according to Harris-Young.
