The visit of Viet Nam’s President Nguyen Minh Triet to Washington D.C. this month drew protesters on June 16. A peaceful demonstration held jointly with hundreds of peoples from the Montagnard Foundation and the Khmers Kampuchea-Krom Federation gathered in front of the White House and later marched to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park. Activists urged President Bush and Congress to take actions to stop the inhumane policies and practices of the Vietnamese government towards its indigenous peoples.
