Editor of the Oakland Post and a former reporter for the Oakland Tribune, Chauncey Bailey was shot to death today on a downtown Oakland street in what police described as a targeted killing. – source: SFGate.com

Bailey, a valued colleague and contributor to NAM and a visionary for a more inclusive media, participated in the Healthcare Reporting for Ethnic Communities Meeting with CPEHN (California Pan-Ethnic Health Network) at NAM’s office on Feb. 9, 2007.

  1. Chauncey Bailey was a man of great courage and truth, whose life set new standards for journalism in the face of People of the Lie. If he receives the awards in heaven that he’s earned on earth with his commitment to serving the community, then he’s rich for the rest of enternity. Well Done Chauncey Bailey. Well Done! The evil you fought so hard against will not win. Nope. Keep writing, you’re now pure spirit…not a ghost.
