Concerned people hang yellow ribbons as a token of their wish for the safe return of the Korean hostages held by Taliban militants yesterday at a street in Gwanghwamun, central Seoul. About 80 civic and religious groups initiated the campaign with the crisis showing no sign of resolution. Afghan President Hamid Karzai and U.S. President George W. Bush reconfirmed their longstanding position that they would not make concessions to the kidnappers during their summit on Aug. 5-6.
