Teotihuacán by Ying Ying Joyce Choi of New America Media. Seemingly in worship, two visitors raise their arms, bend down, and repeat in each of the four directions atop the Pyramid of the Sun in the ruins of Teotihuacán, May 18, 2007. Other visitors sunbathe and take photos under the harsh sun. Teotihuacán, located an hour away from Mexico City, was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. At its peak, it was once the largest pre-Columbian City in the Americas during the first half of the first millennium CE. After the fall of the ancient city, the Nahuatl-speaking Aztec named it Teotihuacán, “birthplace of the gods.” – Ying Ying Joyce Choi San Juan Teotihuacán, State of México, Mexico.
