Ramadan Day1: Fisherman with a good catch by Nishan Ali. “A man starts his day in the early night around 10 p.m., kissing good bye and greeting of Ramadan to the family and friends. At Dhiffushi harbor, the captain is trying to move the coworkers faster. ‘Hurry, hurry, it’s time to start, Hassanaa locate some baitfish now.’ They travel for a few hours and reach the reef, where they scoop these small bait fish in the net.” - Nishan Ali Ramadan is an Islamic religious observance that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, when the Qur’an was revealed. The name “Ramadan” is taken from the name of this month. It is considered the most venerated and blessed month of the Islamic year. Prayers, sawm (fasting), charity, and self-accountability are especially emphasized and observed throughout the month.
