YO!
YO! is a collection of short pieces by the writers at Youth Outlook!
[ filed under: race-relations politics ] So today is do or die for team Hillary, and as I anticipate the results from today’s Ohio and Texas primaries, I’m hoping that all of this Hilary and Obama business will be over with and that my main man, Mr. O will get those delegates! It’s down to the nitty gritty, if Hillary doesn’t win those states, she’ll be knocked out of the competition, and I’m certain that if that happens and Obama will be the Democratic representative in the actual election, that he’ll win hands down. This is history in the making, I know I know, about 9 months late, but seriously with every stat and projection the prospect of America’s first president of color, a Black man, becomes less of a fairytale and more of a reality. I was watching this old school documentary about Shirley Chisholm way back when, in the 70’s, when she made her historic bid for the presidency. Although her campaign was more idealistic than viable, she was successful in opening the door for people of color and women to aspire to think outside of the box and have the “audacity of hope”. Now in 2008, Senator Barack Hussein Obama may very well become the President of the United States of America. That’s big. Even if he loses today, all hope is not lost, however if he is to win, so much hope will be gained! comments |

I agree with Ms. Young. Losing the popular vote in Tex., Ohio, et al. is not lost hope. Hillary Rodham is still behind in the delegate count and if the media starts discussing all her major Waterloos, e.g., taking 891,000 from health industry a few years back (see July 12, 2005 N.Y. Times article) after which her healthcare commission faltered – she will really fall behind in the delegate count and her electability will rightfully be questioned more.
