Yahoo.com has this cool little thing where you can enter your zip code and get all of the latest news in your area.

I use to live in Daly City ca so I didn’t may much attention to it because nothing happened in Daly City. Recently I moved to the east bay, West Oakland to be exact, so I went on to yahoo and changed my zip code to the one for Oakland. it would be an understatement to say that my daly news has changes a bit, I can’t read three headlines with out the forth being about someone being gunned down somewhere in the East Bay, someone young, just like me. I can t help but wonder how close I am to what seems like a war being fought.

My girlfriend and I moved to Oakland ‘cause the rent was cheap and it was close to the City but now I wonder if we unwittingly put us ourselves in danger just by living here. I could just be psyching my self out, but I often wonder how possible is it to one day end up a statistic by typing in a zip code, such as Oakland. (ex. Young man gunned down on Oakland’s west side, witnesses saw unidentified assailants fleeing the seen.) I don’t know if cheap rent and closeness to the city is worth that.
