Last Friday, as the words to prayer were called at 6:10 am in Iraq, Saddam Hussein’s life and legacy came to an end.
And there couldn’t have been a better day for him to die, in my opinion. Saddam died on the Muslim holiday of Eid-Al-Adha, in which Muslim sacrifice an animal and distribute the meat to the poor, the needy, and close family and friends. And this year, Eid –Al-Adha came on Friday, the Muslim Sabbath.
But in my mind, I felt a little sorry for Saddam, but there is even more sympathy for the Iraqi people. Though America claims that many Iraqi’s were overjoyed that this tyrant lives no more I would think many of them were disappointed that he was killed because of U.S. involvement in the matter.
I do believe Saddam deserved to be punished for his actions, but I don’t think that the Iraqi people agree with that as the justification of soldiers coming in and bombing their city.
And the Iraqi people must have felt so degraded to see their former President killed in such a demeaning manner. Though he was a dictator and not liked by many, he was still a President, and I think he should have been given some respect during the last hours of his life.
But what can we do now – What’s done is done. Now I worry about the future of the Iraqi people. The puppets of Bush govern them, so their future must be looking pretty bleak. – Maahum Chaudhry

I agree. He should have been executed in a manner befitting a former head of state. They treated him worse than serial killers who have personally raped and killed dozens of highly promising young women (all serial killers in America are white for some reason)
