Everyone seems to want to run for office, or at least anyone with a decent suit and a believable smile. With people like Al Franken
running for a Senate seat in 2008 it really got me thinking about other people who don’t necessarily have the background in politics but would have a really, really interesting time if they took office. With that said, I would love to see more comedians run for office.
With a less than obvious patriotic sentiments on tap because of the U.S.’s status oversees, it wouldn’t hurt to entertain our reality TV encased brains with something more – well – do I dare to say – interesting?
Here are my short list of comedians that I would absolutely love to see run for President in 2008 in no particular order.
-John Stewart – There’s really no need to explain why. This one sort of speaks for itself.
-Steven Colbert – Actually, I think it would be awesome if Stewart and Colbert went on a one-ticket campaign. Vote Stewart Colbert in ’08. Has as nice little ring to it. – Sarah Silverman – I don’t have a exact reason why I picked Silverman but I think it would be very interesting how many inappropriate things she can say during the State of the Union while a straight face on. – Chris Rock – His speeches would probably make people laugh with legitimate humor, instead of restrained nervousness. – Robin Williams —Never saw Man of the Year, but I think he’d still be pretty entertaining in the White House. – Bernie Mac – Makes me laugh. What more can you say? – Bill Maher – I absolutely love his show on HBO. Intermingling politics and humor together like cake batter. Delicious.
