YO!
YO! is a collection of short pieces by the writers at Youth Outlook!
[ filed under: entertainment politics ] Think of it like the time your parents turned off the TV and made you go to sleep when your favorite guilty pleasure was on T.V. You cried, moaned, threw a temper tantrum and threatened never to speak to them again till you were thirty. But you aren’t little anymore and your parents have turned into evil, mean looking guys in suits with giant green dollar signs in their dialted pupils. Those are the guys who have threatened to kill the greatest thing since Napster. Actually, guys in suits did kill Napster I’m seeing a pattern here. When Viacom sued Google and Youtube video uploading site for $1 billion dollars for copyright infringement, I imagined the head of Viacom looking something like Austin Power’s Dr. Evil, holding his pinky finger to the corner of his lip and cackling evilly. Youtube has grown into the same phenomenon that radio was when it was first invented. People huddle around their computer screens to see unearthed long lost TV shows, news clips, random video shots, and the most hilarious things ever put on the internet. Seriously, I can’t imagine life without ‘D*ck in a Box’ and Box in a Box.—Eming Piansay |
