I don’t know what scares me more. The fact that someone can sneak a gun on to a school campus and start a blood bath, or that someone can bring a gun to their college campus because the State legislatures say “OK”.

Utah is the first and only State in the country to allow students to bring firearms to campus. You would think this would generally be a no-brainer but I guess you can rationalize just about anything else days, especially if you’re a big fan of the 2nd Amendment .

After the massacre at Virginia Tech the idea of bringing firearms on campus might ease fears of security. But on the other hand it is a little more unnerving to think that a good portion of the people in your school are armed, loaded and possibly trigger happy.

The worst possible thing to do right now is to emulate what you’re frightened of. Of course, no one can predict school violence and it is probably equally difficult to prevent it from taking place. However, this just screams really-really-bad-accident-in-the-making scenario. Let’s hope this doesn’t turn into some wild new fad. If so, we’ll be nothing but a bunch of paranoid, wannabe cowboy pistol slingers with a high school diploma.
