Black Enough for the White House?

Editor’s Note : To read our other blogs on Barack Obama Click Here.

Let me say my opinion is coming from someone who does not fallow politics closely. What is a black man? What does a black man have to look like, act like or believe to remain ‘black’ and be the president? Obama has been taking a lot of flack for having white supporters. He has been called, safe, not black enough, and my favorite, the magic nitro, all because he has the support of white liberals. Don’t liberals usually vote for democrats and conservatives for republican? So wouldn’t it make sense for any democratic candidate to have support from liberals white or black? Since when is support from a group of people that can help get you in to the White House a bad thing? Has having white support of a candidate ever been an issue other than in the case of Barack Obama?

How ‘black’ can a man be and still have a legit chance at the white house? No one has ever questioned the racial identity of Reverend Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson, they are both very over the top controversial members of the black community, but neither of them would ever have a realistic chance at the White House because some might say they are too black.

Barack Obama is a black man, he is also a well educated man trying to better himself, he seems to be wholesome and have a good message of faith and spiritually, to me at least, it seems these things are who Barack is. But some how they are still the reasons some say he isn’t black enough, things like this really make you wonder what the common definition of a black man is.
