Tempers Rise in the SF Board of Supervisors

On Tuesday, in the San Francisco Board of Supervisors meeting two highly ranked supervisors almost got into a physical fight. It started as an argument.

Supervisors Chris Daly and Bevan Dufty started to argue during the nine hour meeting they were both involved in. Dufty had said to Daly that he was acting like a “third grade bully” and told him to hit him in the face. Chris Daly didn’t hit him but thought about it. Supervisor Tom Amiano said that they definitely need to step back and cool off. In the past, Daly had started a rumor that San Francisco Mayor Gaven Newsom was using cocaine and that he had an affair with his campaign manager (which he had admitted to) during a televised meeting. Daly attempt to make major cuts on the mayor’s projects and expenses for affordable housing programs brought up the argument. Basically, Bevan Dufty suggested that Daly stop whining. It all ended with the sheriff coming in and calming everybody down. Peskin (head of Board of Directors) stated that he’s not proud of what happened but then again it’s not the end of the world.

I believe that Peskin is right. But then again he just does not want to lose any good workers over what had happened. I feel that no matter what happens you should always try to squash beef, especially when in a professional setting and you know it will be all over the news.
