YO!
YO! is a collection of short pieces by the writers at Youth Outlook!
All I ever hear anymore is “The war in Iraq this…” and so many “American soldiers are dead…” but I’m so over it. Since 2002, Iraq has been one of the major stories in mainstream news. It all started with the Bush administration claiming that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and linking Saddam Hussein to the attacks of 9/11. This lead to UN weapons inspectors going into Iraq to search for these “supposed weapons of mass destruction”, and later reported that they found none . However, this did not stop the Bush administration. They continued trying to persuade American people and the world that we had reason to go into Iraq and bomb the hell out of them. Apparently having no interest in facts, proof, or other opinions, the administration continues their relentless attack, causing the deaths of many American soldiers and a constantly underestimated number of Iraqi deaths. General Tommy Franks, US Central Command, stated, “We don’t do body counts”. Many believe that the media has contributed to the continuation of this bogus war. There is no question that this war has taken resources away from the real issues of terror and has damaged our reputation throughout the world. |
