The Homerun King

History was made on Tuesday night when Giants slugger, Barry Bonds stepped to the plate. Barry set the record for the most homeruns EVER hit in the history of major leaguers. He beat Hank Aaron’s record of 755 home runs with one more homer to equal 756 homers total. His fans shared in the happiness with the Home Run King himself in his hometown, San Francisco. Hank Aaron was not present in the stadium but he did congratulate Barry over the huge screen after Bonds beat his record. Willie Mays was there in a suit to congratulate his Godson in person.

Personally I feel that a broken record is an extraordinary thing in sports or even in life. I feel that what Barry did is a great achievement in baseball. I feel in a way he did cheat but in a way he earned it. I mean, steroids do make you stronger but you could be the strongest man in the world and still not be able to hit a ball. You need to be able to make good contact and have a good eye to be able to hit enough home runs to set a record or for that matter to beat a record that was previously set. The commissioner of major league baseball did not show up for Barry’s hit because he did not want to be involved with Barry and the whole steroid scandal. I still look at Bonds the same as before. He’s just a brother who wanted to get paid. I’m sure he doesn’t mind the money either.
