YO!
YO! is a collection of short pieces by the writers at Youth Outlook!
Marc Ecko, the founder of the popular Ecko clothing line got the winning bid for the 756th home run ball hit by Giants slugger Barry Bonds. It all added up to a bit more than $750,000. He has decided to have the public vote on what he should do with the record-breaking ball. The 3 choices he put on the Internet are to either put it in the hall of fame, brand it with an asterisk which will tell people that what Bonds did was extraordinary but he did it with the use of steroids. I do have to agree with Barry’s comment in the SF Chronicle, that it is just stupid what he is doing with the ball. I mean he spends $750,000 on a baseball and he wants to shoot it out into space. That is just ridiculous that he would even consider that a choice. It’s just a big waste of money. Plus, if people do end up voting for the ball to be launched into space, Bonds isn’t even going to show up for the launch. If it were me and I bought the ball for that much money I would at least give it to the Giants organization so they could decide on what to do with the ball, whether it is to keep it or give it to the Hall of Fame. That way I could possibly get some free tickets or some Giants memorabilia. At least I would get something out of it. Not quite as much as I put into it but at least it’s something. |
