YO!
YO! is a collection of short pieces by the writers at Youth Outlook!
[ filed under: technology ] Remember when we all used to listen to cd players? We’d walk around with our headphones and our cd books, and listen to our 16 track homemade mixed cd’s. As time progressed, a few of us made the transition from compact disc to mp3, but it wasn’t until Apple introduced the iPod that cd players because virtually obsolete. I remember the first time I actually saw someone with an iPod, I couldn’t believe that someone could have so much power in their pocket, forget the double A batteries and the huge headphones that look like Princess Leia buns. As the trend took on, Apple created cooler, and less expensive, iPods, so that now, if your iPod has a LCD screen, expect a few sideways glances. Well, the company is trying to take over a new turf, phones! iPhones, instantly get more respect than Sidekicks, just on account of they have a touch screen, a fast working internet, and youtube capabilities. Oh, and they can make calls too. People lined up outside of AT&T (I’ll still call them Cingular, just like I always called Albertsons “Lucky’s”, and now look, they’ve changed the name back!) stores to be the first ones to own the super cool gadget. I laughed at the people who actually bought the first iPhone, I mean, didn’t they learn anything from iPods? Apple is going to make sleeker, cooler, cheaper, iPhones, so that in two years, if you still have the first iPhone you’ll look like you’re stuck in the old days. But hey, some people just want to be the first ones to have it, and one woman, who paid $499 for the 4GB model is suing Apple for $1 millions dollars for slashing the price of the phone by $200 dollars a short 2 months after it debuted. Keep dreamin’ sister, and keep up with the trends, we all saw it coming. |
