I, like most people tuned in to the MTV Music Video Awards and saw Britney Spears stumble around the stage like a old prize fighter past his prime I couldn’t help make parallels of Brit-Brit’s disaster come back to the comeback of Muhammad Ali, it looked like the same person minus all the punches in the head or in Brits case all the drugs and crotch flashing had slowed the once great idol down, and were less than a shadow of her former selves.

Today I saw Britney Spears new video for her song Gimme More. I don’t love the song in the first place even though her intro (its Britney B*tch) is undeniably ring tone worthy. I know I should have expected a masterpiece, but I didn’t expect to see an artistic rival to Pan’s Labyrinth or even the creativity of say a Missy Elliot video. But I did expect more than I saw. The video shows a blond wigged Britney in a dimly lit bar watching a brunette Brit on a striper pole across the room. The whole video has kind of a Coors Light commercial feel to it (that is if that Coors light commercial had a twenty-dollar budget and the director pocked nineteen bucks.)

I know that this woman has enough to deal without little even more Brit blog bashing, but as a fan of music videos and someone that loves a comeback story aka Rocky, I would love to see miss Brit regain her thrown of pop supremacy some day soon. Do I think she can do it yea (why not) is she gonna do it with sucky single and weak videos? (I don’t think so).
