YO!
YO! is a collection of short pieces by the writers at Youth Outlook!
[ filed under: youth entertainment ] This past weekend was definitely a crazy one. Some highs and some lows. I had some relatives come to visit me from Santa Cruz, CA. I ended up going home with them to stay for a day and a half during the three-day weekend. That I have to admit was a blast. I spent some quality time with the family and I even convinced them to take me to the beach boardwalk. I rode on the Giant Dipper and all the kiddy rides because I am too much of a wussy to go on the big rides. It wasn’t crowded at all but my aunt said that it is only busy during the summer. My aunt works as a teacher aide at a nearby junior high and it was crazy how many people were coming up to us to greet my aunt. Most of them were working at the boardwalk and had already graduated. Even the guy who sold me my bus ticket home knew my aunt. I was stunned. It was like being with a celebrity. When I got back to the city I met up with my girl friend and her friend at century theatres in Daly City. We had all planned on going around 6:00 but the bus I took to get back didn’t leave till 5:00 so by the time I got there the movie had just started. I didn’t really care what movie we saw but then again I didn’t really know what was out. They had already bought my ticket. Little did I know that the movie we were watching was Feel The Noise. When I first entered the theatre there was hardly anybody in there. Most of them were groups of little girls and teen couples. This movie stars Omarion Grandberry from the movie You Got Served and Victor Rasuk from the movie Raising Victor Vargas (great movie by the way). I thought this movie was garbage. It was terrible. I wanted to leave during the first 10 minutes and it didn’t get any better from there. It’s a story about a New York kid, Rob (Omarion) who wants to be a rapper. He steals some rims and almost gets shot because of it. So his mom sends him to Puerto Rico to stay with his father who he never knew about. He works with his half brother to become a rapper in Puerto Rico, the home of Reggaeton. In the process he meets a beautiful woman who teaches him to dance and they fall in love. This movie had too many problems or conflicts. It wasn’t clear what the plot was. It was all over the place. The acting was horrible and the music was bad. I mean, I like reggaeton but the way they were trying to mix it with rap was horrible. They didn’t even dance that much. I hated it. It was a big waste of money. Don’t go to see that movie unless you have a significant other to make out with. comments |
