A father from Daly City was sentenced 25 to life in prison for killing his son, who was only 17 months old. It turns out, the mother was at work on the night of the murder and wasn’t able to do anything about it. The father, Pedro Olivas, was left alone with the boy and would call the mom at work with reports like “he fell off the bed” and “he fell off of a high chair”.

I cannot believe that something like this has occurred. It is just horrible and disgusting. I mean there is nothing that this infant could have possibly done to deserve something like this. I feel this is a major tragedy. I agree with the punishment to the fullest. There was some talk about sentencing him to probation instead of 25 to life. But, I think he deserves life. It is one thing to kill a mature adult, but it is a whole other thing to murder an infant or a small child. They both are equally wrong but it just makes it a lot more tragic. I understand people get frustrated with their children but to take it to that extreme level is just simply amoral.
