[ filed under: race-relations sex ] Editor’s Note: An e-mail response in regard to why black men prefer white women has been running lapse throughout the internet. This blog is in response to the content of the piece. To see the full letter click here.
I come across a lot of white women who think just like you. White women see themselves as goddess since they are with black men. They see themselves as better than black women because they THINK they have something we don’t.
We will never look at ourselves and make changes to be like you. We were oppressed for over a hundred years and have always been made to think that we are not good enough and have to be like the white woman. We have came to far and will not allow ourselves to continue feeling this way. We do not need to learn from you, we have plenty of influential black women to look up to, such as Oprah, Jada Pinkett Smith, India Arie, Rosa Parks, Maya Angeou, Toni Morrison, and many more. Although seventeen years old, with the two year long relationships I have been in, and meeting other black guys, they cannot handle what I have to offer. My mother brought me up to be strong, have morals, and never allow someone to bring me down. I’ve come to realize, there is nothing wrong with me, and that most black men cannot handle the security that comes along with who I am, and that is why they turn to white women. I was recently at Burger King eating with my family and a friend when I saw a couple walk in, a black male and a white female. They were around the age of 20 years old. The first thing I noticed was the control he had over her. He told her to pay for their meal. She did non-reluctantly. I continued watching them, and she was obviously getting played. When they left Burger King they got into what appeared to be her car and she drove them away. I wanted so bad to go outside and say “what the fuck are you doing? Why are you so weak?” but I didn’t. My friend looked over to me and said, “ at least that isn’t a black girl he is doing this to.” My point being, this is why black men want white women most of the time. From my experiences, a black woman would have never allowed that to happen. It wasn’t just the fact that she was paying for their meal or driving her car, it was the control he had over her. It was apparent in his words and actions. comments |

Ashley you raised some for real points about what is important. We are just fine. The black men who opt to be with white women need to try to explain their reasons differently. I like she is my choice. Instead of making it look as if he couldn’t build a relationship with a sistah. Stay strong and keep on moving your way!
By Deborah Latham-White · Posted on Nov 6, 06:00 PMwoow its crazy how racist the majority still is.. its seriously sad that ppl talk like that..
CAN SOMEONE PLS tell me, if a pain is stronger if a black person have it?
Is a disappointment less strong if a white person have it?
Is the luv wich a white mother give her white child, less than the luv from a black mother to her black child???
We all have the same attributes, the difference is just on the strongness each attributes of us!!
The fact is not that a white woman think shes better than black woman rather the ppl in general think there better than the next!! And yea im talkin bout the majority and yeah again there always exeptions in any way!
Thanx for reading
By the way, im white if ist matter to kno who wrote that AND i kno it is unfurtunately..

Why do you care who a black man chooses. You should focus in your options and open your mind, you can be with a White, Latino, Asian, Arab, Native American guy don’t limit yourself. NO woman should feel inferior to any man, or let herself be manipulated, regarless her of race!
By Dee · Posted on Nov 14, 10:59 AMwhite women need to wake up. Most of the time when u see a white women with her non white child u almost never see the father of that child.
By Roger · Posted on Nov 18, 01:40 PMOne of the post said, “maybe he was intimidated by argumentative black women…”. Look, regardless of race no man wants to argue and be a rival with his women. Men in general have the world to fight with. I do find that black women tend to be more obstinate. This is not saying all black women are this way and that any individual black woman should be treated as if she is “argumentative”. There is a difference between “strong” and “argumentative”. Argumentative is usually a sign of being afraid of losing control and insecurity.
And to Roger, I can say the same about full white kids…, you almost never see the father. Um…, maybe that’s more a commentary on society as a whole as opposed to race. By Cory · Posted on Dec 2, 09:12 PMOh Dear. Why do we feel we need to respond to this kind of comment? – I ask myself!
It is so obvious that the original comment came from someone with serious issues, ones that we, collectively, cannot do much to change. Let’s just be clear that we are all from one human family, who evolved and travelled in different directions – some stayed in the heat of the sun and some moved away. It is like arguing over nothing. We are at liberty to differentiate bewtween each other based on our superficial skin colours but we would be complete fools if we allowed prejudicial attitudes to divide us. We should leave that to the ignorant-and-happy-to-remain-so brigade. I don’t defend white people and I don’t defend black people or any other ‘races’ of people. Educate ourselves about evolution, myths and legends and how they came to be, scientific development and advances and share what you have learnt with others who want to educate themselves too.
