YO!
YO! is a collection of short pieces by the writers at Youth Outlook!
On the count of three, sing the ABC’s and shoot a gun with me. I imagine that’s the motto some West Virginians have constructed in order to make the idea of gun usage more appealing to school children. There is some possibility that West Virginia will be passing a bill that would allow school children to be taught how to use a gun. The gun control lessons would be taught during the “physical education classes”. Why run laps when you can fire off a couple rounds? The classes would available for students in eight to 10th grade, ages 13-16. In case you were wondering, the bill isn’t in place to educate the kids on gun control. Far from, it is actually directed towards the all-mighty dollar. Teaching young people to handle firearms would ultimately increase the surplus of money generated from gun and ammo sales. Not only that, but it would raise the amount of hunting licenses, which have been declining over the last few years. I’ve gotten a lot of flack (via comments) for my position on gun control. But really, if you’re going to allow kids to pick up a gun and start to learn how to use it, the decision should fall on the kids. It should not be a requirement constructed by a local government who has found one more thing to add to a list of moneymakers. That’s the American Dream, people. Go to school, get an education – get some target practice. |
